On January 7, 2025, the Ka-1 Block Scattered Gas Recovery Project, located in Minfeng County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang, successfully completed its first feed and trial run, marking the smooth production of qualified LNG products. This milestone signifies the project's full transition into the production and operational phase, injecting new vitality into both the company’s portfolio and the regional energy supply system.
Since the project broke ground in late June 2024, the Sepmem team has demonstrated remarkable resilience and execution capabilities in the face of numerous challenges, including water, power, and network outages, tight material and spare part supplies, and difficult transportation conditions. Throughout the construction phase, the Process Design Department, Project Management Department, and Commissioning Team worked in close coordination. Every team member played a pivotal role in driving the project forward. From early-stage design to on-site project management, considerable effort was devoted to overcoming unfavorable conditions and ensuring the steady progress of the project.
After more than six months of intense but well-organized construction, equipment installation, and commissioning, the project finally reached its critical moment—the first feed gas commissioning. Under the leadership of Sepmem's Site Manager, Mr. Zeng Mingguo, the team developed a detailed commissioning plan and contingency protocols, successfully passing comprehensive inspections by both the Hotan Emergency Management Bureau and the No.1 Oil Production Plant of Sinopec Northwest Bureau, laying a solid foundation for a successful start-up.
During the trial operation, all personnel strictly adhered to standard operating procedures, maintained continuous 24-hour monitoring, closely tracked equipment performance and process parameters, and swiftly addressed any emerging issues to ensure flawless execution. After four consecutive days of stable trial operation, the plant successfully produced LNG that met all design specifications, officially entering its operational phase. This achievement is a testament to the close collaboration and tireless efforts of all Sepmem teams involved.
The successful commissioning of the Ka-1 Block plant will significantly ease natural gas supply pressure in the region and provide a more stable and cleaner energy solution for local industrial and residential users. Sepmem will take this opportunity to further uphold its core values of "Create Excellence, Achieve Win-Win Cooperation" and continue contributing to the high-quality development of the energy sector.
